Our home away from home in Los Angeles is The Beverly Laurel Motor Hotel.
Built in 1967, the Beverly Laurel was lovingly renovated with a mid-century vibe in the mid 2000’s.
The mid-century details include a cozy glass walled lobby with feature macrame wall hanging, a mural by the artist SHAG by the pool, a mid-century aqua blue colour palette throughout, and our favourite, an Erica phone just like Gidget had by the bed.
Another highlight is the Beverly Laurel signage, all original, but re-habbed with LED lights.
The Beverly Laurel is also home to the much-loved Googie style SWINGERS cafe.
As one of the last remaining original and authentic roadside motor hotels in Los Angeles, it gets our highest recommendation - especially the circular suite above SWINGERS — it is ridiculously kitsch and camp retro glam with the glow of the Swingers neon sign gently beaming on to the round bed placed on a platform - equal parts hilarious and fab.
