Flagstaff Arizona is muffler man crazy!!! Not one, but TWO muffler men reside there, plus a mini muffler man!
This 20-foot-tall Lumberjack muffler man resides outside the Northern Arizona University Skydome and carries an axe and wears a red beanie. He goes by the name of Louie.
He was donated to the university in the 70’s after The Lumberjack Restaurant, his former home, closed its doors.
He now is the number one fan for The Lumberjacks basketball team, who play here in the J Lawrence Walkup Skydome.
The second Flagstaff muffler man is also owned by the university but has not fared so well. He was originally located inside the Skydome but fell into disrepair after being battered by stray basketballs. At one point he even had his head stolen!! ouch!! So, depending on his current state you may or may not be able to find him - but you can easily find this axe wielding muffler man grazing on the lawn outside the Skydome.
PS — there is an unconfirmed rumor that this muffler man is the very first muffler man ever to be produced, circa 1962, and made by Prewitt Fiberglass Animals.
Both muffler men with their shirts painted red, can be spotted in their original location in the film “Easy Rider”.
