Big Road Runner

A giant roadrunner has made his nest in the middle of a traffic circle in La Quinta….. meaning The City of La Quinta has given that traffic circle the bird (sorry …. not sorry)

The giant roadrunner was sculpted by New Mexico artist Don Kennell, and was originally part of an art installation that featured at 2014’s Coachella Music Festival.

The giant roadrunner is 12 feet tall and 30 feet long, and is made from steel, glass, and shiny metal plates that make him look like an avian disco ball.

We don’t recommend running in to the traffic to get to the giant roadrunner - luckily, he is giant, so a quick portrait as you approach the traffic circle will also look tremendous.
