Cozy Dog Drive In

We know many Americans who consider the corn dog to be their national dish.  I mean, who ever thought of wrapping a weenie in cornbread!?  and then French frying it?  .. and then poking a stick up its bottom?? Well, according to Illinois folklore Ed Waldmire did, that’s who!

The cozy dog drive in is allegedly the birthplace of the first hot dog on a stick. Ed’s wife Virginia christened their invention The Cozy Dog. Then she designed the cutest logo in the history of weenies - two weenies giggling over a private weenie joke, in an affectionate embrace.

The original Cozy Dog was opened in 1946 but moved to this new location in 1996. Luckily the adorable sign, and all their vintage weenie memorabilia followed them to the new location.

If the corn dog is not your thing (and we are with you on that), never fear, you can order a hamburger or a bowl of chili instead.
