What a lovely picturesque little town McLean is.
And what remains of the historic circa 1853 McLean Train Depot is the station building, a train signal, and a lovely vintage sign.
Situated on old Route 66, the depot is one of the first buildings ever erected in McLean Illinois (population 806), and one of only two stations still standing in Illinois that hosted the 1865 funeral train that carried the coffin of President Lincoln.
Blink and you’ll miss it, but still an interesting historical spot to stop and stretch your legs if you’re getting your kicks on route 66 There’s also a route 66 marker beside a sign celebrating the town of McLean for all your Instagram and selfie needs.
