The Ship of the Desert is an amazing Streamline Moderne house, built to resemble an ocean liner.
It’s a private residence, (so don’t run up the driveway) but you get an amazing view of it as it sits high on a hill at the end of the street. Look for the very informative plaque to the left of the driveway, pointing out that is a designated historic site and telling you a bit about the house.
The ship of the desert was designed by Erie Webster and Adrian Wilson in 1936.
We were lucky enough to put on our fancy pants and attend a party there during Palm Springs Modernism Week in 2022, and the house is as beautiful inside as it is outside.
