This relatively small Auto Museum sits in Balboa Park, an incredible 1200-acre park that is home to more than 16 museums, the Globe Theater, The Spreckels Organ Pavilion and the San Diego Zoo.
In addition to the classic cars there is a large motorcycle exhibit. When we visited the motorcycle exhibit had three areas that looked at motorcycle in depth. These were the Indian, the Harley Davidson, and best of all, Mr. Evel Knievel .
Look for "Louie Mattar’s Fabulous $75,000 car”, a 1947 Cadillac with every mod con you can imagine (in 1947). The car has an electric stove, a refrigerator, a toilet (!), an ironing board, a medicine cupboard (bless), and a kitchen sink! It also has a shower, a drinking fountain, a public address system, a tape recorder, and a bar!
If you’re lucky, when you visit there will be a docent around to show you all the gadgets.
