The Copper Room, circa 1957 is located a little off the beaten track adjacent to the Yucca Valley private airport.
With its circular bar overlooking the private airstrip, It immediately became the place to be for the high desert jet set.
Composer Jimmy Van Heusen wrote “Come Fly with Me” for his friend Frank Sinatra while he was at The Copper Room.
The glamour of The Copper Room was never ending. Pilots could call in their drinks and dinner order from the air and it would be ready when they landed.
In the 1970’s The Copper Room changed hands and became known as The Red Baron.
Eventually The Red Baron closed, and the building and the airstrip fell into disrepair.
Local entrepreneurs eventually restored the building back to its Copper Room glory days. Look to the walls for lots of vintage photos and news clippings from the 1950’s. Try to grab a seat at the bar to drink a craft cocktail and watch the sun go down over the vintage airstrip. Glorious.
You can drive or fly to The Copper Room - up, up, and away!
