There are several statues of King Kamehameha throughout the islands of Hawaii, but the original statue is located not far from where he was born on The Big Island of Hawaii.

King Kamehameha united the Hawaiian Islands into one kingdom in 1810, after years of conflict. It was the first time in recorded history that all the islands were unified under one ruler.

This statue was forged in Florence, in 1880, but the ship that was bringing it to Hawaii sank off the Falkland Islands, and the statue was thought to be lost at sea. A replacement brass caste statue was commissioned, and was placed in downtown Honolulu, where it still stands today. Then, amazingly, in 1912, the original statue was found on the ocean floor!! It was restored and finally installed near Kamehameha’s birthplace at Kapa’au.

June 11th is the official King Kamehameha Day, and every June 11th this statue is ceremoniously draped in flower leis to celebrate Hawaii’s most beloved. King

PS - apparently King Kamehameha was too cool for pants - what a daring outfit your majesty!
